The "Main" Elk

The "Main" Elk begins where three large springs bring the river back above ground right beside our shop. Because of these large springs, this section is a true 12-month fishery. The 2.2-mile Catch & Release section provides some of the most challenging angling anywhere, with highly selective trout feeding regularly on size 32 (and smaller!) midges which can require ultra-light tippet down to 10X. But don't let the micro-hatches scare you...there are also voluminous mayfly, caddis and stonefly hatches providing plenty of larger morsels as well! Simply put, fishing the Elk will make you a better angler!
